Come warm-up with ODS! Incoming students are invited out to this Bobcat Welcome event. Participants can engage in making worry dolls playing with water and oil painting, coloring, sketching, friendship bracelet making, and play doh. Art supplies, snacks, hot cocoa and refreshments are provided. Don’t miss our on this opportunity to hang out and get some free hot cocoa and warm up to the start of the new school year!

Want to achieve academic success in college? Stop by the ODS booth and other Student Success office booths and learn tips for thriving and surviving academically in college. We will have the career center, student health center, Texas workforce commission, counseling center, and student legal services present.

In recognition of National Sexual Abuse & Violence Awareness Week, the Office of Disability Services will partner with the office of equality opportunity and title IX, student organizations, and faculty to participate in the Clothesline Project from the 5^th to the 9^th. This is a time to raise awareness of this stigmatized, and often taboo topic. Join ODS as we partner with other campus stakeholders to provide information and resources to help students with negative thoughts and feelings about various circumstances. Shirts representing various TXST, and university communities worldwide will be on display to show the impact of domestic and sexual violence.

In recognition of National Black HIV AIDS Awareness Day, the Office of Disability Services will partner with the Community Action Group Inc. to provide free HIV/AIDS screenings. The event will be held on Tuesday, February 7th from 11 A.M. to 2 P.M. in LBJSC rooms 3-6.1, and 3-7.1 and the HUB. The purpose of National Black HIV AIDS Awareness Day is to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS and encourage use of prevention and treatment methods in the Black community.

This is a unique opportunity for students at TXST to ask questions and learn more about services offered through ODS. This allows for a positive interaction between students and disability specialists in a relaxed and informal environment while increasing students’ knowledge of their overall wellness. This is an opportunity to engage with a disability professional to discuss strategies for self-care to give you the tools to achieve your academic goals. Free Tea and snacks are provided for participating students.

Disabled & Proud (I am different but not less) is an art showcase centered on the experience of Texas State University’s disabled student population. The purpose of this program is to create a better sense of community within the disabled community and provide disabled students an opportunity to share their voice in whichever medium best suites their artistic needs.

The Office of Disability Services and Career Services are co-presenting this workshop, designed to help prepare students with disabilities for part-time and full-time jobs, on-campus and off-campus employment opportunities and internships. Free pizza will be provided.

The purpose of National Transgender and Gender Non-Binary HIV Testing Day is to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS and encourage use of prevention and treatment methods in the non-binary and Transgender communities.

College students face a variety of unique stressors ranging from academic pressure, relationships, social commitments, financial problems, and time constraints. Additionally, students are confronted by wider societal concerns, social injustice, economic concerns, and immigration issues. Each of these can factor into student success. Learn from experts the coping strategies and resources available to assist and support you in achieving academic success.

The Office of Disability Servies will be hosting a presentation in which we will be having a conversation regarding services animals, emotional support animals, and therapy animals. This educational presentation hopes to clarify the state and federal laws, what our office can do, and why it is important to have this conversation.

Students, staff, faculty, and their families are invited out to decompress as they prepare for final examinations. Participants can participate in various types of art and yoga. Counselors and therapy animals will be on hand throughout the event to provide support.
