When to Arrive
Due to the large number of guests attending Commencement, it is recommended that visitors with disabilities plan to arrive one to one and a half hours prior to the ceremony.
Visitors who have disabled license plates, a disabled placard, or can show a disability-related need, will be provided access to the designated disabled parking lot. For more information, please visit the Candidates and Guests with Disabilities webpage.
In addition to normal event traffic, several construction sites may affect typical routes to campus. Please consider the following driving routes and parking areas below when traveling to commencement. For easy reference, please see the directions below and the commencement parking map for locations of parking areas. Information on limited mobility parking and seating is noted at the end of this webpage.
For more information, please visit the Candidates and Guests with Disabilities webpage.
Shuttle & Golf Cart Services
Shuttles will be available to transport guests from Lots A, B, and E. Shuttles will drop off at the Texas State marquee sign in front of the University Events Center. Shuttles will only pick up and drop off at designated stops.
Golf carts are available from Lot C.
When planning your arrival, please allow time for the shuttle to make its route. Depending on traffic, this could be as long as fifteen minutes. Buses will be available beginning one hour prior to the start of the ceremony and the last bus leaves one and a half hours after the end of the ceremony.
All shuttle buses are 100% ADA accessible.
Visitors with disabilities who require accessible seating should identify this need to Commencement staff at the entrance of Strahan Arena. Visitors will be directed to the closest available open seating area. Visitors with disabilities who wish to sit in another section closest to their graduate may do so however seating cannot be guaranteed in that section. The accessible seating areas are located in sections C, F, H, and K; the map of Strahan Arena shows these sections. Each visitor with a disability will be allowed to have one accompanying family member or friend sit with them in the accessible seating area.
