Tina Schultz, Director
- Coordinates the university’s program of service for students with disabilities
- Responds to requests for general information from enrolled students, and program information from potential students and family members
- Responds to requests for interpretation of legal mandates on campus-specific issues related to ADA
- Interprets federal laws (Section 504/ADA) and court ruling and interpretations affecting services for students with disabilities
- Monitors the university's Self Evaluation Plan for progress towards compliance with ADA
Jenni Ward, Assistant Director
- Serves as person in charge in Director’s absence. This responsibility includes consultation and collaboration with members of the university community
- Assists in establishing and enforcing goals and objectives; developing policies, procedures, and guidelines for disabled students to obtain services
- Performs intake interviews of students with disabilities and determine need for accommodations. Counsel students and coordinate academic support services. Analyze neuropsychological documentation to determine eligibility for accommodations
- Assists in managing and providing direction to all ODS programs
- Assists with the development, monitoring, and maintenance of strategic planning
Ellen Cagle, Interpreter
- Provides interpreting services to students who are deaf and hard of hearing
- Prepares for interpreting course lectures by reviewing specific terminology and content related to courses
- Assists with providing information to faculty members on captioning and sign language interpreting services utilized by deaf and hard of hearing students in the classroom
Terry Casey, Interpreter
- Provides interpreting services to students who are deaf and hard of hearing
- Prepares for interpreting course lectures by reviewing specific terminology and content related to courses
- Assists with providing information to faculty members on captioning and sign language interpreting services utilized by deaf and hard of hearing students in the classroom
Bruce Coonce, General Disability Specialist
- Determines appropriate accommodations for students with disabilities by conducting intake interviews and analyzing medical and/or psychological documentation
- Assists students in accessing accommodations through counseling and coordination of academic support services
- Coordinates the ODS testing program to provide alternative test administration to students with disabilities; screens, hires, schedules, and supervises proctors. Monitors the testing schedule and reading forms to anticipate problems; resolves problems which may occur
- Assists students to access other available resources by maintaining liaisons with, and referring students to appropriate local, state and federal entities which serve students with disabilities
Debbie Cole, Interpreter Coordinator
- Provides interpreting services to students who are deaf and hard of hearing
- Screen, evaluates and recommends hiring of interpreters to the ODS director to maintain qualified pool of freelance interpreters
- Provides interpreting services by coordinating student schedules with interpreter availability in a fiscally responsible manner
- Coordinates interpreting services for meetings, programs and special events
- Maintains quality assurance of interpreters by distributing evaluations forms and reviewing the evaluation of interpreters by students and faculty
Shelley Glenewinkel, Administrative Assistant II
- Assists the General Disability Specialist with arrangements for testing. Contacts academic departments when necessary to request exams. Provides other support to the General Disability Specialist as needed.
- Answers and screens telephone calls for the office, addresses concerns and refers calls to the appropriate staff member
- Schedules appointments for program staff
Scott Janke, Psychologist
- Reviews disability documentation for students with acquired brain injury, Attention Deficit Disorders, learning disabilities and psychological disabilities. In conjunction with the Cognitive Disability Specialist and/or General Disability Specialist determines the need for accommodations and support services
- Provides counseling for students related to disability issues
- Serves as point of contact with local psychiatrists/psychologists when verifying information provided to the ODS
Gloria Rodiguez, Administrative Assistant III
- Serves as assistant to the director
- Coordinates and oversees all administrative duties associated with general office operations
- Supervises and coordinates duties for support staff
- Coordinate orientation of student workers
- Monitors departmental budgets
TBN, Liaison Interpreter
- Provides interpreting services to students who are deaf and hard of hearing
- Determines appropriate accommodations for deaf and hard of hearing students by conducting intake interviews and reviewing disability documentation
- Coordinates captioning (speech to text) services for academic classes and meetings
- Prepares faculty for working with deaf and hard of hearing students and their service providers by distributing informational materials including letters and DEAFinitions Guides
- Serve as a resource for information and adaptive technology support related to deaf and hard of hearing individuals; serve as a resource for linguistic, cultural and learning methods for other support services on campus
- Serve as Supersite Coordinator for Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) national certification testing
Heidi Walden, General Disability Specialist
