To request a captionist for classes each semester:
Any Texas State deaf or hard of hearing student who needs captioning services for a semester must complete a "Request for Captionist, Course Schedule" form (available at the ODS) before, or at the beginning of the semester that services are needed.
How do you do this? Complete a "Request for Captionist: Course Schedule" form and turn it in to the Office of Disability Services, Liaison Interpreter.
To request a captionist for a special appointment:
The Office of Disability Services can provide captioning services for Texas State Deaf and hard of hearing students who have an appointment or meeting that is not a regular class. For example, captioning services can be provided to attend a special lecture or presentation. The ODS has a list of optimal available times each semester for special request's.
How do you do this? Complete the Captionist Request or Cancellation on line form or a "Request for Captionist: Special Appointment" form (available at the ODS) and turn it in at least three days prior to the event to the Office of Disability Services Liaison Interpreter.
To cancel a captionist:
It is very important to notify the Office of Disability Services Liaison Interpreter if you do not need an captionist for a class or a special appointment.
How do you do this? Complete the Captionist Request or Cancellation on line form or a "Request for Captionist: Cancellation" form (available at the ODS) and turn it in to the Office of Disability Services Liaison Interpreter. Notice should be made as soon as possible or at least 24 hours before the class or appointment is scheduled to begin.
To request a captionist for final exams:
A special request needs to be turned in if captioning services are needed for final exams. Captionist's are regularly scheduled for classes are only available through the last class day unless requested.
How do you do this? Complete the Captionist Request or Cancellation on line form or a "Request for Captionist: Final Exams" form (available at the ODS) and turn it in to the Office of Disability Services Liaison Interpreter.
