Process for Students with Disabilities who are not Registered with the Office of Disability Services (ODS)

If you have documentation of a disability and are not currently registered with the Office of Disability Services (ODS) please do the following: 

1. Complete a Confidential Student Information form (available upon request from the One-Stop Center at the Round Rock Higher Education Center (RRHEC), and
2. Obtain a copy of your disability documentation

Submit the above information to Jaimie Krause, Student Development Specialist in the One-Stop Center at the RRHEC.  The information will be sent via courier to the ODS office on the main campus at Texas State for review.  A student must meet the criteria outlined in at least one of the ODS disability guidelines to qualify for services and accommodations at Texas State University-San Marcos and the RRHEC. The complete and detailed guidelines are available upon request from the ODS or on the ODS web site.

Following the review process you will be contacted by an ODS Specialist.  If appropriate, the Specialist will review the accommodations that you have been approved for over the phone if you are not also enrolled in classes on the main campus.  Following the review, an Accommodation Approval Form and an ODS Student Handbook or Handbook for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students will be sent to the One-Stop Center.   

You will be asked to initial the Accommodation Approval Form next to the initials of your specialist for each approved accommodation and then sign and date the bottom of the form.  You should retain the yellow copy of the form for your records.  The white copy will be sent back to the ODS to complete your file.  We must receive the signed form back to activate your services.

Students with Disabilities who are Registered with the ODS 

If you are registered with the ODS and are taking classes at either the main campus or the RRHEC, you can request an Academic Accommodation Letter and sign up for Advance Registration through the ODS website. 

Advance Registration - To sign up visit the ODS web site and at the bottom of the main page click on the link ODS System for Students and follow the link to ADVANCE REGISTRATION.  This is a secure site therefore you must sign in with your Texas State user name and password.  Remember, sign up must be completed within the first six weeks of each long semester.  The deadline for summer and fall 2008 sign up is February 29th at 11:59 p.m.

Academic Accommodation Letter and Academic Accommodation Forms - To request your letter, visit the ODS website and at the bottom of the main page click on the link ODS System for Students and click on “Accommodation Letter.” This is a secure site therefore you must sign in with your Texas State user name and password.  You must select the number of classes that you are enrolled.  If you are ONLY enrolled in classes at the RRHEC you must select the box that identifies your status.  This will allow us to mail your letter and forms to the RRHEC One-Stop Center for pick up.  After you have obtained the signatures of all your professors bring the completed forms to the One-Stop Center. They will provide you with the yellow copies of your forms and return your Academic Accommodation Letter and white copies of the Academic Accommodation Forms to ODS.  Remember, the letter and completed forms must be returned to establish services for the semester.
