The accommodations most commonly recommended include extended time for examinations, tape recording of class lectures, reduced distraction space for testing, use of a word processor for exams, assitive technology to assist in test taking, sign language or oral interpreting services, captioning services, and volunteer note taker services. A student who needs a volunteer note taker may request that you make an announcement in class to help identify potential note takers. An announcement will help facilitate this in-class accommodation.
Most importantly, accommodations are determined on a case-by-case basis and recommended only if the student would not have equal access to the academic opportunity without the accommodation.
