Admission

Texas State University-San Marcos does not discriminate on the basis of disability in the recruitment and admission of students to the university. Students with disabilities must meet the same admission requirements as other students. A student applying for undergraduate admission whose educational and/or personal goals for success have been negatively impacted due to disability-based reasons may wish to may address any challenges in the supplemental essay with their application for admission.  The Office of Undergraduate Admissions may consider this information during the application review process.  A student applying for graduate admission should contact the Graduate College.

The Office of Disability Services (ODS) is available to review disability documentation for applicants who are applying for admission.  This enables the ODS to inform the applicant as to whether or not they will qualify for accommodations at the university based on the Texas State disability guidelines.  This information may also be helpful if the ODS is asked to provide feedback to the Admissions Office on an applicant with a disability who does not meet, but is very close to meeting Texas State admission requirements.  The ODS can notify the Admissions Office whether or not the applicant would qualify for accommodations at Texas State, and how they may relate to the potential for academic success.
